Developing depression with cataracts

06-12-2016

Recently research has been conducted which has shown that those suffering with a cataract, especially elderly people, are much more likely to become depressed. A cataract develops into clouding of the eye lens as a disease sets in which leads to impaired vision as well as a number of other symptoms.
In America alone, 22 million people aged 40 and older suffer with the condition and the numbers are set to increase as the population ages with numbers of sufferers predicted to reach over 30 million by 2020.
Cataracts develops a number of symptoms such as clouded and dim vision, difficulty seeing at night, sensitivity, seeing lights and glare around objects and not seeing certain colours as clearly.
Unfortunately ageing increases the chances of developing cataracts but the recent research has found that older patients can easily develop depression as a side effect. This is due to feeling isolated and lonely and suffering through the problem alone. Many people don’t want to talk, are embarrassed o don’t understand the disease or how to get help for it. This can leave people avoiding others and more worryingly avoiding help.
We urge you to contact your doctor if you think you or family member is suffering with cataracts and if you have been diagnosed then take a look at our products and start treatment today. Please don’t suffer alone!
