Vision Benefits of Lutein & Zeaxanthin Bright Eyes Capsules

More Information

Nature blesses us with eyesight, a sense that allows us all to enjoy everything around us, other people, our pets and the surroundings. It is difficult to envisage life without sight, yet some have to do so.

Something so precious needs care to avoid vision problems. Some of the nutrients that we need to boost the health of our eyes are found in food, but we can also supplement those same nutrients with Ethos Health Products.

What Are Those Nutrients and What Are their Roles in Good Eye Health?

Lutein and Zeaxanthin are carotenoids, important antioxidants, found naturally in several fresh fruits and vegetables. Carotenoids in plants help absorb light to prevent damage to the plant from too much sunlight. They perform a similar function for an eye to shield it against damage.

Both Lutein and Zeaxanthin are found in the retina which is a layer of tissue at the back of the eye. It takes in the light and processes it into signals that it sends to the brain for visual recognition.

The problem is that the body does not produce any more carotenoids itself. As we age, the levels of carotenoids in our retinas diminishes so it is important to give them a boost.

There are age-related diseases that can threaten vision, commonly things like cataracts, glaucoma and macular degeneration.

• Cataracts occur when cloudy patches begin to develop over the lens in your eye. They can form in one or both of your eyes and the cloudiness results in your vision becoming increasingly blurred. They can ultimately lead to blindness. Cataracts become more common as you get older resulting in your night vision deteriorating dramatically and your eyes becoming increasingly sensitive to bright sunlight. Surgery is an option but that is not something that everyone would look forward to having, irrespective of the potential cost or the wait for the operation.
• Glaucoma is a disease that attacks the optic nerve that is responsible for sending messages from your eye to your brain. You mat start to struggle with your peripheral vision as one symptom. You will feel no pain as it develops but it is also a condition that can lead to blindness. It is identifiable in a routine eye test, but do you have such tests regularly?
• Macular Degeneration. The macula at the centre of the retina helps to distinguish detail. Degeneration of the macula, either ''wet'' or ''dry'' form, results in increasingly poor vision and in some cases, ultimately blindness. Antioxidants help to restore macula density and hence the health of your eyes.

Taking a supplement containing carotenoids can both prevent the onset of such diseases and arrest their development by protecting cells from damage. That applies to eyes as well as other parts of the body.

Added Benefits

The value of lutein and Zeaxanthin does not end there:

• When taken with Vitamin E, you will boost the functioning of your lungs
• You can counter high cholesterol and potential DNA damage
• You will shield yourself against heart failure and its symptoms

Recommended Usage

Zeaxanthin and lutein are absorbed best by the body when taken with fat. For maximum absorption into the bloodstream, take this supplement with the meal(s) of the day that contains the most fat.
